I've been here multiple times since they have opened up, and honestly have nothing to complain about. I thoroughly enjoy it every time. Top quality bacon -- who can go wrong with that?!? I'm not even a fan of bacon, but i'm sure to order a side to enjoy. I had the best caesar salad with grilled chicken. The grilled chicken was cooked to perfection and juicy. Wide, wide range of options and choices. The names of dishes are granted, creative. The owner is ALWAYS there. Any complaints or compliments take it to him. He's friendly and helpful. The wait staff are super friendly and great. Lastly, the desserts are always tempting. Variety of cakes and sweets any day of the week.

Overpriced and mediocre food. Service in unpleasant, and food takes a long time to get. This explains all the other negative reviews. These people can't even get an order correct. The staff isn't friendly, and in personable

I think Rasmus N. wrote a perfect review. I couldn't have said it any better... I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I had a great experience. I had a frittata and my bf had the burrito. We got bacon on the side and it was delicious. Service was quick and our waitress was very friendly. I was disappointed when i quickly reccomended this place to a couple of friends and heard of their experiences - long wait, getting the wrong food, overcooked eggs, no hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict etc etc. I thought well we have to go back and see what is going on. We tried it a 2nd time and experienced a long wait, we asked for bacon on the side and only got 2 strips, and my burrito was below par. However, my bf got the french toast sandwich with pear and provolone... it was delicious!!! I was now torn about Tiny's Diner. I get very excited about new places in Riverdale and like most people in the neighborhood I would love to see Tiny's Diner succeed. I think I will wait a little while before trying it a third time. Nothing is more disappointed than not getting what you ordered or having inexperienced staff - especially when you are hungry! Tiny's Diner, I will return and hope that I will have a positive experience. Will definitely update my review.

I was really excited about this place... I love old school diners. The decor was very cute and the place was clean. Our waitress was very nice... Though she forgot a few things she was apologetic and hurried to remedy. A guy in the kitchen brought our daughter a free crepe with apricot filling, which was pretty tasty. Now onto our meal... in general, it was average at best. It was clear that most if not all of the food was bought frozen and just prepared there. I that breakfast might be more freshly made food, based on the crepe, but our dinner items were all pretty much blah. Buffalo wings were nothing special. French dip sandwich just didn't taste like fresh roast beef. Also, they served it with some gravy instead of au jus, which was weird. Greek platter - the gyro was clearly not authentic and the spinach feta pie is one you can buy frozen at food service suppliers and just pop in the oven. Cheeseburger was just okay. Fries were just standard frozen food service fries, not even the best ones. I really would like this place to succeed because it is a cool environment and the menu looks great. Unfortunately, it does not deliver on taste. I think if they used more fresh ingredients and made the items from scratch and got rid of all the frozen items (i.e. cooked their own food, not just heated it up), it could be awesome.

The best diner in Riverdale by far! Food is great and is made to order so it sometimes takes a while but it's well worth the wait!

Tiny's Yelp rating is still weighed down by reviews from years ago. This place has really turned it around, used to be not so good and now is excellent. I eat here semi-regularly and always happy with the result. Rating should be 4 stars, not three.

The good: Comfortable, Extremely clean. Perfectly nice people running it. Big portions at good prices. The bad: The food made by the older white guy cook is always just "OK" at best. Wish they had a better cook. Bottom line: The food will fill you up, at very fair prices. And it's very nice and clean in there.

It continues to meet my expectations. You no it's good when your parents who are very picky want to only go there for lunch.

I ordered from Tiny's using grub hub and asked for an ice cream sundae - in the notes i asked for the works (whip cream, sprinkles, etc since it would be for a birthday). I was surprised and just really happy that someone at TIny's was kind enough to tape a small candle to the top of the sundae. It was a small gesture and I didn't think anyone was going to read the request. A small thing like that makes me want to keep ordering.

Great little diner with fresh vegetarian and gluten free options (although I personally had the French dip!) I had lunch here and really enjoyed the food and the friendly staff, the latter being pretty rare in the Bronx. Would definitely recommend for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have great fresh squeezed orange juice and the vegetables were surprisingly (for a diner) fresh and delicious. Big portions, so if you like leftovers or are very hungry I would recommend checking this place out.

We've only ever eaten the greek food here, and it's been tasty. Spinach pie with actual spinach and not some mushy, over-cheesed mess and gyros that have all the typical fixings. Service is friendly, and price is fair. We've eaten here on weekends and weekdays for lunch and never had a problem getting a table or food.

We live in the neighborhood and didn't want to go far in the rain. Were simply looking for a regular breakfast...However, first food took forveeeeeeever to come, it was just eggs and home fries.. Coffee was bland, I asked for Splenda, the waitress said brb and never came back with it. The fountain soda is watered down. I ordered an omelette with onions and peppers. The onions and peppers were burnt within the omelette. I could hardly taste the eggs because of it. The bacon i asked for wasn't cooked right and had a weird sweet taste to it (which I think should've been specified when I asked for Turkey bacon. Overall I was very disappointed here and will never come here again. This place needs better management and definitely doesn't deserve more than one star...maybe not even one. While we were waiting for our food, two tables walked out because their food was taking too long. Coffee watery?? Really...common...

In one word: Terrible. Why? They have no idea about customer service and the food was cold and tasteless. Back on September 18th, my wife and I went there for National Cheeseburger Day. Thought we would give them a try. We entered the place and waited a few minutes to be seated, but then I just sat us myself. Another 5 minutes pass, before someone asks us if we would like a menu. Granted, we were ordering cheeseburgers, I still wanted to see their menu. They did not know what I wanted. Another 10 minutes pass, and they take our order. I am furious, but my wife said to give them a chance. They are new. Fine. 20 minutes pass and my wife points out the owner. He orders our waitress to get him some burgers now. What does she do? Gives our burgers to him and makes us wait. We wait another 10 minutes, and the waitress comes back and says our burgers are taking so long, because they have to cook the bacon. Really? I have made bacon and it is fast. Unless, they went out back to get it from a real pig, then that was a lie. Our burgers were with the owner, who is loud and obnoxious. We get our burgers and they and the fries are cold. Not even warm. After waiting so long, they should be piping hot. My wife asked me not to make a scene and not to say anything. I oblige and bite my tongue. One side of my burger had a half melted slice of provolone and the other side a burnt slice of American Cheese. It had to be the worse burger that I ever had. It had no flavor. Totally bland. My wife wants to go back and give them a second chance to try their breakfast. She can go, but I will never step foot into that place again. It was a total waste of time, money, and calories. Stay away from here. If you want good food, go to River City, or Blue Bay, or Bronx Ale House, or Riverdale Diner, or Tibbett Dinner, or better yet, go to Yo-Burger. Riverdale has no shortage for places with good food and people. We did tip the waitress very well. Not her fault that the owner is clueless. I was forced to give them one star, or else my review would not have been posted.

Ordered a basic cheeseburger and fries, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. I thought it was great. Cooked well done just like I asked for instead of pink in the middle, which I hate. Also got a vanilla milkshake, which I liked, Get your burgers here instead of Yo Burger across the street. That place sucks and their burgers suck. This place has really good burgers, friendly people and a nice neighborhood feel to it.

My wife and I went for lunch and were hoping that it was going to be good. It was not busy when we came in, but got busier as we stayed. I was happy for them since we are in need of a new diner in the area. We were greeted kindly and immedately but unfortunately that is where the good part of the meal ended. My wife ordered a pastrami sandwich on rye, and I ordered 2 eggs up with sausage and whole wheat toast. It took 30 minutes to get our food and when it arrived my wife's sandwich was on a roll and one of my eggs was fully fried. we did not have time or the incentive to have them change it since it took 30 minutes or them to get it for us in the first place. as we were leaving, on e of the other customers started complaining about the wait and the waiter started to talk back to the customer in a rather loud and petulant voice (having been in food service for 20 years I know that is not how to handle the situation). I would like to be kinder in my scoring of this new restaurant, but I cannot. The atmosphere was nice but considering what we ordered, there should have been no wait. The food was OK and the service was pretty dreadful.

I have been to Tiny's two times over the last six months and have to say I've had a very pleasant experience both times. This most recent time, I had the pleasure of meeting the manager Brian. He was very courteous and took care of his customers with thoroughness and is committed to providing the best experience for guests. I really appreciate that. As for the food, I'm a big breakfast guy so by nature I'm going to like everything on the menu but I was very pleased with my omelette. I am excited to go back and try the pancakes and french toast as well.

A smart dinner that seems to really make a lot if their own creative food with little generic junk off the Cisco truck.

I am at a loss as to how anyone can give this place five stars and not feel guilty for dishonoring the Yelp review system. I have tried Tiny's three times now and every time they have found new ways to disappoint. The servers still act as if it's their first day waiting tables. The food takes a very long time to arrive, and when it does there's inevitably a problem or difference from what the menu states. I ordered a breakfast entree today (which was misspelled on the menu, [South of the Boarder, are we on a ship, or is this a youth hostile?] that described eggs on black beans. When it came it was on Heinz Baked Beans. Baked Beans! With Salsa and eggs, was what they brought me. My wife's pancakes tasted of soap. They told us they were having problems with the stove. Maybe they thought the dishwasher was the stove for a minute. There are some good ideas here, the menu is interesting and not over-priced. The space is nice, if somewhat garish. Every element of the execution is wrong, however. The servers are fundamentally terrible in every way, despite meaning well: They don't know the menu They don't communicate what comes with the dish you're ordering They openly squabble about tables in front of customers, this is probably due to a lack in structure regarding the pooling and distribution of tips which needs to be done on a managerial level They regularly drop food at the wrong tables (of which there are only twelve or so) There is clearly no standard operating procedure for them to work with, that is to say: when a customer leaves you clear the table, then set it up again for the next customer before you move on. For a place with a high rate of turnover like a diner in Riverdale this is absolutely essential. No amount of kitsch (pictures of Clark Gable or Captain America) will make up for a clear and overwhelming lack of organization. One experienced server could handle that entire place with no problem and make a decent living in tips, but two inexperienced people on the floor creates an unacceptable number of mistakes and half the money for each person. The place runs like it's the first restaurant on Earth and they're just now trying to figure out how serve six or seven people eggs and bread at the same time. Tiny: for you to be in business for more than a year you've got to fix your sloppy fundamentals. Everyone in the neighborhood wants you to succeed. I propose you spend more time interviewing servers and training your staff and less time picking out ever-changing colored lights for behind the counter.

Here's a novel idea, care about the food you expect people to pay for, to come back for. Wandered in on a weekday, my want to support local business overriding my better judgement. I was met with an entirely empty diner, the silence broadcasting everything I needed to know about the place; run far away. The staff there seemed largely uninterested in tending to the only customer brave enough to come in that afternoon. Ordered a cheeseburger deluxe, medium rare to go. Watched the fella working the grill wander off and cackle continuously with the wait staff. Jokes on you, you actually came in to order something. The burger was an absolutely disgusting crumbly dry hockey puck that tasted incredibly odd. Half way through I gave up, and to no surprise got stomach sick that night. Fuck this place.

Went here for an early dinner with my 6 year old cousin, J. We were warmly greeted by the young gentleman behind the counter. He was cute. We decided to sit on one of the brand spanking new booths. Comfortable, plus fabulous and sparkly enough for J. I ordered the beef burger deluxe and J ordered waffles. I thoroughly enjoyed the burger. Juicy, tasty, angus beef, my mouth is watering just thinking about it now! I like it with lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions, but you have the option of adding various types of cheeses, mushrooms, bacon and etc. Finished every bit of it. The kitchen mistakenly added powdered sugar on J's waffle, our waitress was very apologetic and quickly ordered another one. J got her waffles, she liked it, no biggie. The service was great. Our waitress was nice, helpful, and served us with a smile on her face. The owner I could tell is very involved with his business as customers knew him and calls him Tiny. He came over and asked how everything was. A nice fella. A big friendly giant he is. I understand that it's new and they're probably just getting in the groove of things but I know this place will do well. I will definitely come back.

Everything is wrong about this place. To start, they don't know how to follow through on their own format. The fifties like theme is confused with the 3 flat screen tvs playing a bad Denzel shootem' up movie. The waitress tried but it felt like it was her first day. The menu is less than appetizing but when you do work up the nerve to order something that sounds like it'll be pulled out of the freezer and heated up, it takes much longer than expected to reach the table. And, we were one of two tables in the whole place. The food as awful. No taste and ill prepared. The chef has no idea what it is to cook. And, by that, I mean that he couldn't even get a grill cheese sandwich right b/c the one that arrived at our table was an awful hard brick of a thing. We won't be going back.

It is a nice quaint diner. I came here to pass the time and have a good filling breakfast while I was at it. I had a better experience than expected. The prices were low and portions large. Waitress staff were very friendly and always checked in. Never rushed me out even when the lunch crowd started to roll in (like I said was trying to pass the time). The food was good for a low-priced diner on the corner. The tables were very clean and actually looked like they were new. I would say that they could serve better ham with their breakfast platters (I was expecting a thicker Canadian style cut of ham and got two rectangular thin slices of ham like it was straight out of an Oscar Meyer package), but really, that was the "worst" of it. All around I think it's a great alternative to the commercialized Starbucks breakfast/cafe experience. Very chill environment. They have two TVs in the far corners for those who like a little CNN/Nick Jr in the morning with their morning Joe. Also I ordered multiple cups of coffee (three?) and they didn't charge me an extra. Love it.

Yet another average place to eat in Riverdale! Nothing particularly bad or good, just your average run of the mill place which is sadly quite the norm around this parts. I tried quesadillas and a chicken panini with fries. Average is really the only thing that comes to mind. The place is small with a kinda cheap Johny Rockets knock off look. On a positive note, the service was good and the wait for the food was fine. However for burgers and fries i'll stick to Yo Burguer, for paninis ill stick to Riverdale Diner and for quesadillas ill stick to Santa Fe.

The wait was long, the servers were rude and incompetent and the food was inedible! They even served us BURNT toast and then had the audacity to expect complete payment after we complained (!) with merely, "we hope it is better the next time you come in." They obviously do not know how to cook, deal with people and/or run a business! We were very excited to try Tiny's - we patronize many local businesses and want them to do well. We eat out a few times a week but after our experience will never, ever return to this poor excuse of a food establishment!

I was surprised to see some of the one star reviews for this place. I couldn't help but wonder if I have been to the same restaurant. While I can't comment on the dinners, I have been here for breakfast a few times, and each time, I found the service and food to be quite good. I have tried both the omelets and french toast sandwiches , and it was clear that the ingredients were fresh, and the eggs perfectly fluffy. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, the ambience fun, and the place overall was squeaky clean. Riverdale desperately needs good restaurants, especially breakfast places. I sincerely hope that the problems other reviewers found have been rectified. It is a relatively new place, so naturally there will be kinks, but I really hope Tiny's becomes a new fixture on Riverdale Avenue. Judging from the lack of empty tables on all my visits, I don't think I am the only one that finds this place to be at minimum a 4 star diner.

I have been here on several occasions. The first time I sat in one of their comfy booths, the second time I at at the counter area. Both times I found service was great. Thy have a wide variety of food and everything looked good. The last time I was there I had a cheese steak and it was delicious. Its in a great location. Right on riverdale avenue. The 10 or 7 bus stops across the street. I will definitely be going again.

We went to Tiny's Diner for breakfast and had the Dublin omelette and the challah French toast. The staff was nice, but the service was very slow. The meat in the omelette was undercooked and the French toast was insipid. Even the syrup lacked flavor. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

now this place is good. what it basically comes down to is that Dennis the cook knows what he's doing. a real pro. the staff is super friendly and attentive. i love the soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches. you can also get a mean steak or roasted chicken if you so fancy. the place is clean and i've never been disappointed. it seems that the younger crowd is going here instead of the nursing home known as blue bay on johnson. the only down side is that it gets packed on weekend mornings but that only means they're doing something right. GO HERE!

There was a ton of spinach (probably a cup, cooked) in my spinach omelette...this is so rare at diners and, as a vegetable lover, very welcome. The home fries were good too, with pepper and onion, and they served strong, freshly brewed coffee. Huge amount of food for what you pay, very attentive, friendly servers.

In the mix of mediocre restaurants that surround the neighborhood. Tiny's Diner stands out like a precious little diamond. Taking traditional American diner food and raising it to a gourmet level. Tiny's food is more than just delicious. There's nothing better than tasting food that brings back memories of Grandma's home cooking. Food cooked with love and passion. Whether its their breakfast burrito, daily dinner specials (with soup and salad and desert - not either/or), grilled chicken and avocado wrap or Tiny's steak sandwich every bite will be a wonderful delight. The potato salad and rice pudding are just like Grandma's for me. Try the best little secret in the neighborhood. You'll forget Johnson Avenue exists.

Like Tony, I too was surprised at the many one star reviews of Tiny's diner. I have had breakfast there with my gf on many occasions and the food was always very good and the prices were great for a diner in Riverdale. I do agree however that the wait for the food did seem a bit long, however the diner was very busy all the times we came. I love the decor of the place and everyone I have met, from Tiny to the staff have all been friendly and attentive. I will return to Tiny's again, perhaps for lunch this time! :)

I seriously don't know how the stars are allocated but 3-1/2 stars to a restaurant that called "Boars Head " turkey , FRESH turkey is amazing - even worse is when I asked the server if it was " off the bird " she didn't know what I was referring to ! Give me a break with your stars ! There is another Real diner not far on Johnson Avenue that has the best FRESH turkey in Riverdale including the Jewish Deli ! And that you gave 2-1/2 Stars ???

Husband and I come here regularly, pancakes never disappoint. Food is always great. My favorite is the breakfast special during the week and the $10 special all day every day. Lots of food at a good price. French toast, club sandwich, salads are always fresh. Tiny on is cute too!

My Fam and I have been to Tiny's for breakfast twice now. We kept avoiding it because of the mixed reviews but overall, we enjoyed the experience and plan on returning. They have affordable prices and yummy breakfast choices. It's also family friendly, which is a plus for us. The only downside is that the service can be a little slow at times (but still very friendly)!

meandered in to grab a quick breakfast. The owner and waitress were very friendly. Prices were very reasonable and I ordered a French toast with bacon. Hubs ordered a florentine Omelette with home fries on the side. The French toast was made in the old fashioned way but lacked sufficient batter so it was a bit soggy. The bacon was crisp and delicious. the florentine omelet was tasty and the home fries made with bits of onion and green peppers were very good. Overall the diner is cute, the people are nice, and food is pretty standard with minimal wait time for the hungry patron. would recommend coming to this place for breakfast in Riverdale.

This diner looks adorable and old fashioned on the outside. Inviting. Looks are deceiving. We had our grandson with us to celebrate his big soccer win. Service was horrible. Food wasn't bad, except for the vegan burger ordered that was cold and I'm guessing not nuked long enough. Service was just horrible. Waited more than an hour for our food and no apologies or explanations. We weren't the only customers complaining. Best part was when the manager opened the front door because he was hot. It's 36 degrees out and we were freezing. My wife had to get up to close the door. Our poor grandson was freezing in his soccer shorts. This place has potential but for us, never again.

I just ordered an egg and cheese sandwich to go and when I opened it there was what looked like pasta/tomato sauce smothered inside as well as a trace of what looked like broccoli. I can only assume that the cook was using a common cooking space and/or a common utensil. This is pure laziness and disregard for someone's order. Unfortunately I couldn't return it because I was already on the bus.

What a real gem! After too many visits to Blue Bay we decided to try the other diner on the hill - Tiny's. What a great experience! The food was better, the staff was more attentive, the prices were better, and they had specialty offerings like organic eggs and non-dairy milk. It's farther for us to visit than Blue Bay, but we'll take the walk. It's simply a better place to eat.

    (4)
  • Suzanne M.

Tiny's Eggs Florentine is the BEST anywhere!! The hollandaise sauce is light and made the right way, not thick and gooey like Blue Bay! The portion is also huge! I love that the cook is the former owner and he has the experience. The service however can be slow.

  • Lindsay S.

Better food than any of the other diners in the area, but horrible service. They've always been slow but last time we got food delivered, they forgot an entire entree (out of two entrees) and we had to wait for the delivery guy to come back. This morning we went in and waited 10 minutes for them to clear off the food that belonged to the people who just left. We could see how long of a wait this was going to be so we walked out. We won't be going back for a while because although the food is good we just don't want to deal with the awful service.
